Rosca de Reyes

Recipe:

Time for preparation: 6 hrs.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lbs. of flour 3 eggs (2 for the mix and 1 to varnish)
  • ¼ lbs. of softened butter
  • ¼ lbs. of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of water
  • 1½ cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of yeast salt dried sugar-covered fruits plastic doll

Preparation:

Heat ½ cup of milk and put in the yeast. On a bowl, put 8 spoons full of flour, add the milk with the yeast. Incorporate by hand until a dough is formed and let it rest on a cool place covered with a towel until it doubles in volume (about 1½ hour). On another bowl, put the flour, make a hole in the middle and there pour the milk and the eggs (beaten), the sugar, salt and water. Incorporate by hand until a dough is formed and put on a table top covered with flour. Continue to work with hands and incorporate the butter.

When the first dough rises, incorporate to the second dough. Let it rest, covered with a towel, about four hours. Butter the pan you will use for the oven. Do one or two balls of dough. Lightly wet your hands, and with your fist, form a hole in the center that will be the hole of the "rosca". Beat the third egg, and with a brush, blaze all the cake, adding sugar on top. Ornament it with the fruit and place the plastic doll underneath the rosca
