Moving around Golden Acapulco is a straightforward task: the entire resort stretches along both sides of the grand boulevard of Acapulco, known as “The Costera,” which runs from the Marina past the Fort all the way to Diamond Acapulco.
And to make things even simpler, frequent taxis and air-conditioned buses shuttle tourists back and forth along the avenue - including horse-drawn taxis for those who don’t mind paying more to go slower!
The boulevard owes its name to the popular Mexican president Aleman who, in the 40s, fell in love with this bay, and decided to make its beautiful beaches available to middle class Mexicans. He invested heavily in infrastructure and roads, including "La Costera" that now bears his name.
Most new town hotels are on both side of the Costera Boulevard, on or a short walk from the beach. Guests often enjoy a wealth of resort amenities and luxury at corresponding prices. Yet, there is lodging for all the pocketbooks in Acapulco, and even luxury hotel can give incredibly good deals in low-season or for longer stays.
